A doctor must diagnose a patient's physical needs before prescribing proper treatment. In much the same way, a student's academic needs must be diagnosed before proper curriculum can be prescribed. Proper academic diagnosis and prescription is vital to a student's achievement. Each student entering the A.C.E. program is given diagnostic tests to determine skill and concept mastery. The diagnostic tests assist the evaluator in determining the student's academic needs in each subject. After the student completes the diagnostic testing, he is given curriculum that meets and challenges him at his performance level. Five academic areas are tested. These tests cover basic skills normally mastered before high school. If weak areas are evident from the testing, the appropriate gap PACEs are prescribed to strengthen specific weaknesses. After completing the gap PACEs, the student progresses at his performance level. If he demonstrates mastery at all levels of testing, he has the ability to function at his chronological grade level in the high school curriculum. Diagnostic tests are provided for math, English, social studies, science, Word Building, the A B Cs with Ace and Christi, and reading:

SPECIAL NOTES • WARNING! If you have started but not completed a Math or English Test and would like to come back to it, do not save the current page as a Favorite. To continue testing on a subject (only available for math and English at this time), you must first log in; then select "Continue Test" from the Starting Level dropdown box. Click "Start test now." This will allow you to continue from where you left off in your last session. • Do not use the back arrow button in your browser to return to completed screens within the Diagnostic Test. Also, do not click the refresh button. • This diagnostic has only been tested on Internet Explorer 5.0 and 5.5. • You must have minimal distractions while taking the Diagnostic Test. • Once you begin the test, it must be completed in one sitting. • You will need to work some of the math problems on paper, as well as some of the English activities. • Answer as many questions as possible, but do not spend too much time on any one question. • When you are finished with the test, notify your supervisor or parent. |
